11:52 am - (broken) Heaphone Symphony
I finally bit through my headphone cord. Work headphones that is. Crap.

11:03 am - Got Milk...
Just got the new Caribou LP. Amazing...it's like all my favorite little kraut rock jams thrown in a blender and spread on toast with new hot beats.

We Jam Econo, the new Minutemen doc, is pretty good. Lots of interviews from lots of important people, and some really great bits by Mr. Mike Watt. It's funny that some subjects only got like one quote in there (including Pettibone). J Mascis' sole quote: "I never thought a fat man could move like that," or something like that. He looked like he had a goiter. Anyway, worth a look-see if you like that band at all.

Also, I've realized that I'm not a very good or diligent blogger.

11:19 am - Rock the Road
Leaving for Savannah today. It's rainy and miserable and I have to be in the car with my boss for an excruciating 4 hours. Loving it....I finally finished the LAL and 13 and God Reviews. We'll see if I can, in fact, return to the world of rock journalism. God knows why I want to.

For those interested in the saga of Chris Klein and my family, you can read a pretty hilarious article about his dinner with my parents at a Eufaula restaurant. My favorite line:

"For dinner, Klein ordered the stuffed pork chop. And Daniels said they apparently had a real good time."

9:08 am - Weekend?
It's over...good show, fun show played by the L5. My parents seemed to enjoy it, although they were a bit confounded by all the experimental lefty films by Frank Lopez which preceded us. Nothing says "Saturday night party" like a short documentary on impoverished South American people and a few "Bush is the terrorist" shorts.

My parents, who incidentally voted for Bush, were good sports about it though. My Dad says, (in his thick Alabamian drawl) "Well, I'm glad we're getting exposed to something new." I wonder if I'd have such a good attitude if I was forced to listen to Sean Hannity blather for over an hour....

Anyway, otherwise weekend was all good. Poker night with Keely, Wynn, Karl, and Meghan was a blast... I once again proved that I'm much better at drinking than actually playing poker. I think I got one good hand in...

1:11 pm - ENFP
That's what I am. That means I'm a flake. Right on.

8:16 am - Staff meetings are bullshit
Yep. Had to take a Meyers-Briggs test for this one. Should be completely insufferable...but hey, I GOT A FREE MEYERS-BRIGGS SCORE!

Sweet.

In other news, turns out Chris Klein's visit to my sister is the talk of...well, the entire state of Alabama. It's been a topic of discussion on morning radio in Montgomery, and my dad had to do an interview with the Eufaula paper insisting that, no, my sister is not in fact marrying Chris Klein, and no, she is not Katie Holmes. Funny. I hope sissy's enjoying this brief brush with the paparazzi.

current mood: quixotic

10:52 am - Note to self...
In my next screenplay, someone will say this:

"Yeah, I'm in a band....We're called Ass Haus."

10:26 am - The Full Effect
So L5 practice was good last night. My bass amp is fixed. I'm taking the afternoon to try and get a handle on the filth farm I call a house. Looking forward to poker, mi familia, and generally rocking this weekend. Just started that 13 and God review. I'm so fucking rusty writing. Oh well...if no one ends up publishing me, I'll start posting reviews to livejournal or something.

3:40 pm - Chris Klein
So, it turns out that my sister might be dating this guy? I don't know. He stayed at my parents house this weekend which I find completely hilarious. In case you have absolutely no idea who he is - he's the "jock" from American Pie and Election. Also did United States of Leland and a couple other movies. Most notably, recently split from fiancee Katie Holmes (who looks a little like my sister). I have no confirmation from anyone in the family on this, but if it's so...well, just keep your eye on the tabloids for me.

2:18 pm - Losercore.
Bored with Friendster. Bored with Myspace So I'm sitting here at work, screwing around with Live Journal while digitizing this crappy footage I've shot. Anybody got a new job for me? Practice with the L5 tonight, so's I'm ready for the rock.

The clock ticks. At least I have this new Great Lake Swimmers record. I saw them at SXSW and was underwhelmed, but I'm digging the record. I'm a sucker for a little tape hiss and reverb. Good tunes, too.

12:45 pm - I created this new live journal...
I decided it might be a bad idea to have my first and last name floating around in cyberspace. Just in case I post something incriminating at some point. Who's ever gonna read this anyway? Nice diversion from my bullshit job though...

Otherwise: Mmmmm...turkey sandwiches are delicious. That latest Okkervil River record is pretty darn good. Didn't go out to see Mahjongg and Deerhunter last night, which I'm sort of regretting. Also digging the 13 and God record. Thanks Farzad, wherever you are...Now I have to get off my ass and write a review of it...

Parents are coming to the L5 show this weekend. Woo ha! It's my Mom's birthday. Maybe I'll give her a little shout out. Good thing is, I may actually manage not to get trashed considering Saturday is also Inman Park Fest, meaning the PBR flows at noon.

More later...
